For this is God, our God forever and ever; He will be our guide even to death.
-psalm 48:14 Forever! Forever God is with us. Jesus died so that we would have that forever dwelling with Him. And seeing that He did that for us, we should be forever praising Him. Sometimes we get distracted by all the things of the world and we forget about praising Him. But I'm thankful God has sealed us with that forever dwelling. When we think of the cross, it reminds us to praise Him. So, we should be remembering the cross on a daily basis. As we praise Him on earth it gets us ready for heaven, because thats what we will be doing for eternity, forever. Jesus didn't forget about us, so we need to remember Him. When we feel alone, remember God is with us. When we feel weak, remember God is strong. When we are faithless, remember God is faithful. So in knowing all that, lets give thanks to the Lord our God and King, for His love endures forever. -Luke Psalm 40:1
"I waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined to me, and heard my cry." Psalm 40:17 "But I am poor and needy; yet The Lord thinks upon me." It is so amazing to me that The Lord - who sits on a throne in heaven and constantly thinking if me - listens to our inquiries, our cries, our every utterance. Although it is estimated that the bible tells us not to fear 365 within the bible, every day we still have questions and concerns. We shouldn't because we know who holds our lives together, and yet our finite minds so easily forget. The God of the universe who created the earth and the abundance of details within it, still hears our daily cries and often times silly complaints. He cares when our feelings are hurt, when we feel the wear of the day heavy on our earthly shoulders. It begs the question, why does He care? He doesn't need to care because of who He is, but He does care because of who He is. He died on the cross not so that we may mourn or regret but that we may rejoice and worship freely! Our Father in heaven cares for us so deeply that if we were to speak to Him every second of every day He would more than joyfully listen to us. Don't squander the opportunity to speak with your Savior today. He's listening, and yes although we are poor and needy and simple-minded, inconsistent, and troublesome, He will incline His ear to us and make intercessory on our behalf. -Kendra Psalm 44:6-"For I will not trust in my bow, Nor shall my sword save me."
This means alot coming form David. We know that he was one of the greatest warriors of all time, and this means one thing. All of his strength came from God. We see that this is because he constantly seeked the Lord at every step and conflict. He knows that his sword and bow that have done so much can not save him, because they are just weapons. His prowess on the battlefield was caused by his constant communion with God. This applies greatly for us as we take the battlefields of schools and workplaces. If we want to be a mighty tool of God, it starts with developing the relationship God wants! -10 Grade Student As a deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for You, O God.
-psalm 42:1 Have you ever been thirsty for water,i mean really thirsty? Working outside during the summer in florida you can get really really thirsty. I know from my own personal experience from working outside that when you finally get the water you desire, you are refreshed. It works the same way with God. When you get up and go through your day you get tired, you get worrisome, you pretty much get thirsty. And just like the water, God refreshes too. In fact Jesus said,"if anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink."(john7:37). Just as the psalm says about the deer panting, we should be panting as well. Daily we should just be desiring to drink from God's word so that refreshing can come and we would overflow with that living water of Jesus Christ. -Luke I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. Do not be like the horse or like the mule, which have no understanding, which must be harnessed with bit and brittle, else they will not come near to you.
-Psalm 32:9 David is writing here to give us assurance that God is leading us and will guide us for what he has planned! So often we try to be like the mule or horse and go off on our own or be lead by other men... David tells us to not be like the horse but to have full understanding that God is in control and through faith and love, we are drawn to him! -10th Grade Student Psalm 39:7-"And now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in you."
Jesus brought light to us while we were in the dark. When we were destined for hell, Jesus saved us and gave us a chance, a hope. So as David says, what do we wait for? We must be willing to take the oppurtunities to share this hope with others! -10th Grade Student For I will declare my iniquity; I will be in anguish over my sin.-psalm 38:18
Once again we see David crying out to God. We see him being so stressed out over his sin that his body is actually hurting. That is exactly what sin will do, it will hurt you! And just like David, we see the same thing happen to us when we sin. We go about mourning(v.6), we have turmoil in our heart(v.8), and we feel like we have fallen down and the sorrow will never leave(v.17). But David repented and we should too. When we do all of those feelings wash away from us, because our Jesus has forgiven us! He went to Calvary's cross and took that sin you did yesterday and that sin you did today upon Himself and took the wrath of God for us that way we would be forgiven. Sin shall not be our master, because Jesus has conquered it and set us free. I encourage you follow the example of David and repent and ask God to forgive you. I also encourage you to remember that Jesus made the way for us to be forgiven. -Luke To you o lord I lift my soul. O my God, I trust in you; let me not be ashamed; let not my enemies triumph over me.
-Psalm 25:1-2 As I read this passage I see David writing, completely surrendering himself to God. He continues by placing his trust in Him, and promising to be bold and not let any conquer him! In our daily lives many will attempt to tempt us and make us sway in our walk... But like David we must surrender all to God and not be ashamed of who Christ is! -10th Grade Student Psalm 36:12-
"There the workers of iniquity have fallen; They have been cast down and are not able to rise." David is refering to the enemy as already defeated. We know that God threw the devil out of heaven, and we also know that God will cast those who have not repented into the lake of fire. When Jesus came and died he purchased the victory! The war has already been won, we just need to win as many battles and souls for Christ as we can! -10th Grade Student For in You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light.-psalm 36:9
In john 1:4-5 John states: "In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it." Just as David quoted, John quoted the same thing! And just as it was true so many years ago, it remains true today. Life is found only through Jesus Christ, because He is, the creater of life(genesis1:27). Light is only found through Him,because He is the creater of it as well(genisis1:3). Without Him nothing would exist(john1:4). In David writing about the wickedness of man, he touches on how the wicked have no belief in God. He says that they have no fear whatsoever. As we look around the world today, we see this is still present. Paul touched on this in 1 timothy 3 as well. David knew that the people would get worse, but God still had given His promise to David. And as we see the same things happening, God still has promised us as well. That promise is eternal life and light through Jesus Christ. -Luke |
