Now I know that the Lord saves His annoited; He will answer him from His holy heaven with the saving strength of His right hand.-psalm 20:6
David knew that God saved. He knew that he was anointed by Him and that no matter what happened, he was gonna be kept safe by God. David obviously kept himself in the word. I'm sure he read over and over again about how God saved the Israelites from Egypt, or how He saved Noah and his family from the flood. He knew the saving power of God! We have to understand that we are God's anointed as well and we will be saved from this sinful world. The day you gave your heart to Jesus you were saved. But as a constant reminder, we need to go to His word and be reminded of that. Read about the ones God saved in the past, but most importantly read about how Jesus was stretched out on the cross for you. I'm reminded that when we cried out to God, He answered from heaven. I'm reminded that as we cried out, He saved us by the one who is at His right hand. -Luke The Lord shall judge the peoples; judge me oh lord according to my righteousness, and according to my integrity within me. Psalm 7:8
it is so easy for us to point out flaws in others when it is not our job! We should open ourselves to be judged by the only one who was and ever will be perfect!! -10th grade student Psalm 20:7-"Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the Lord our God."
I loved reading this because it really stuck with me the idea of trust. Trust is what we break when we fail, and we fail so often. God never fails, so it is so much better to have our complete trust in Him. Many people put their trust in things and people that fail, but it is so much better to put our trust in the only One who never fails! -10th Grade You have also given me the shield of Your salvation; Your right hand has held me up, Your gentleness has made me great.-psalm 18:35
Every time I read, "God's right hand," I think of Jesus. I mean it says that Jesus is sitting at the right hand of the Father(mark16:19). David wrote so many times that God's right hand sustains him; to me it is just a picture of Jesus! Even Stephen said, he saw the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God(acts7:56). In reading this I'm just so reminded that Jesus is the right hand, Jesus is the right hand that holds you up. Thomas Nelson comments that the"right hand" is a slogan that describes God's powerful deliverance of the Israelites from egypt. And Jesus is that powerful deliverance for us from the world. What a reminder that the the same right hand that saved the Israelites from bondage is saving us from it as well. I encourage you that whenever you read "God's right hand", just remember that is where Jesus is making intercession for you. -Luke 1 Samuel 18:14
And David behaved wisely in all his ways, and the Lord was with him. It is pretty interesting to read throughout this chapter and find the phrase- "and David behaved wisely". In fact four times throughout the chapter we read "and David behaved wisely". In conjunction with what we read in today, David said in Psalm 18:1- I will love You, O Lord, my strength. One aspect of Behaving Wisely is realizing that our strength comes from the Lord. It was the Apostle Paul who said, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Understanding that our strength comes from the Lord, acting in obedience and trusting in Christ to strengthen us in our time of need is in fact a important aspect of behaving wisely, -Pete |
